There are approx. 18 000 000 inhabitants, of which 230 000 are aborigines. The 10 major towns hold 70% of the population. Most people are concentrated in the south around Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra the federal capital. Without forgetting Adelaide, Darwin or Perth.
