CLIMATE
The British climate
is mild and humid with cold periods. During June
and September there is less rain. Winter is humid
but not very severe. To the west and the north, in
the Orkneys the wind blows for nearly 100 days a
year, and in the Lake District (Cumbria) the "helm"
is a strong wind "strong enough to uproot the
turnips"!
If you intend
to swim in Britain, you should know that in the
west of Cornwall the water is the "warmest" in
Britain at 17 or 18° in mid summer. It is
colder on the east coast, in the North
Sea.
Fog is frequent in
Wales.
