Air
transport : The following companies provide

Maritime
Transport : Condor, Sealink, British Channel
Island Ferries, Caledonian
Mac-Brayne Ltd, P&O Scottish Ferries and
Western Ferries Ltd ensure the connections between
England, Northern Ireland and the Scottish islands
and the Anglo-Norman islands. They also provide a
service for crossing the River Clyde.

Launches, Catamaran Cruisers,Tower Pier Launches
Ltd and Champion Launches propose cruises up the
Thames.
Travelling by rail : Paris and London are
now linked by a 3 hour train trip. The "Shuttle"
service joins Calais to Folkstone in 35 minutes.
The British Rail circuit is a dense railway network
serving all the big towns in Britain. There are
also Rail-Air links between the airports and the
town centres as well as a sleeping-car service.
THE TIME DIFFERENCE WITH FRANCE
The time difference with France is less one
hour in summer and less two in winter.

Radio / Television : Most French radio
programmes (RTL, France Inter, Europe 1) can be
picked up clearly with a good radio on medium and
long wave. RFI can be picked up the whole day on
short wave.
AIRPORTS - AIRLINES
ENGLAND : London has five airports :
Heathrow, Gatwick, Stanstead, London City and
Luton. The first three have
underground connections to the town centre.
SCOTLAND : Prestwick airport.
CAR HIRE
Car rental is about 250/300 FF a day (cat.
A with unlimited mileage) or 1 600 FF a week.
British highways are free and are amongst the
safest in Europe.
